The many boats he built are 'top of the range' and much sort after in New' Zealand. Don is primarily a custom designer and many of his designs are for game fishing.
Being an avid boat owner, keen on game fishing, diving and family cruising many of his design ideas have come about through these interests and many years spent on the water. Don is an innovator, always showing a willingness to "break the mould" of conventional design.
The motor yachts feature such ideas as boarding platforms becoming an integral part of the boat, increasing effective waterline and creating huge live bait tanks. Steering wheels have been replaced by independent toggle steering and autopilot as separate systems.
In 1974 Don and his wife Heather started their own boat building business building hand crafted wooden boats. After learning the business from the ground up, Heather moved from her 'apprenticeship' on the saws and sanding boards into administration and interior consulting.
Don is available today to discuss his extensive range of one-off designs, or Don will happily customize and project manage any size of motor yacht and sailing vessel.
Both Heather and Don are able to informatively advise on either traditional, or the latest in designer interior furnishings and timbers and also advise on the essential designs of galleys, bathrooms and stowage etc. to make cruising easier for families.
